With a large portfolio of meters across a number of locations — and a requirement to accurately apportion costs to the relevant bill payers — but without an up to date meter or site schematic to facilitate splitting the costs, one client asked for help.
Action
Argent Partnership proposed a Track and Trace programme which was project managed by us on behalf of the client.
A Track and Trace? In summary it requires an Engineer to investigate every meter in the portfolio and test each circuit to correctly identify exactly what each one feeds.
Result
In addition to resolving who was actually responsible for the bills from each meter (in most cases it was as expected… but there were several where adjustments needed to be made) the project was able to reduce future costs by rationalising and removing around 30% of the existing meter portfolio and saving on standing charge costs. This didn’t quite pay for the Track and Trace programme but it did cover a portion of the cost.
